First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlybek Nalibayev visited the construction site of the Silleno polyethylene plant with an annual production capacity of 1.25 million tonnes during his working trip to the Atyrau Region.
The project is being implemented in line with the instruction of the Head of State as part of the development of Kazakhstan’s petrochemical cluster. As one of the country’s largest manufacturing projects, it will reduce imports of high-demand polymer products while increasing exports of value-added products.
Mukhtar Avutbayev, General Director of Silleno LLP, briefed the First Deputy Prime Minister on the project’s implementation, the current status of construction and installation works, and the upcoming stages of construction.
Nurlybek Nalibayev noted the current pace of construction and emphasized the strategic importance of the project for the development of Kazakhstan’s petrochemical industry and the national economy.
Particular attention is being paid to the development of local content. Orders for the fabrication of the largest process equipment for the future plant have been placed with the Kazakhstani manufacturer AtyrauNefteMash. One of the key pieces of equipment a column standing 101 metres tall and weighing approximately 1,500 tonnes has successfully passed testing and is currently being prepared for shipment to the Silleno construction site.
Polyethylene is one of the world’s most widely used polymers and is extensively applied in construction, healthcare, the automotive industry, agriculture, consumer goods manufacturing, and many other sectors.
