The Chairman of the Management Board of KazMunayGas, Askhat Khasenov, during a working visit to the Atyrau region, reviewed the current status of petrochemical projects, compliance with approved schedules, and the increase of local content through the involvement of domestic enterprises.
The General Director of Silleno, Mukhtar Avutbayev, reported on the progress of construction of the polyethylene plant with a capacity of 1.25 million tonnes per year.
Construction works are being carried out at two key technological units. Overall project progress exceeds 28%.
At the pyrolysis unit, pile driving works are nearing completion (96%), while foundation works (33%) and installation of precast reinforced concrete structures (24%) for the future installation of pipe racks are ongoing. Since April 2026, installation of steel structures for the main pipe rack has been underway, and pipe prefabrication works began in May.
The participation of domestic manufacturers and suppliers is of significant importance for the implementation of the project. This year, the delivery and installation of the first units of oversized equipment are planned, including an ethylene fractionation column weighing nearly 1,500 tonnes and standing 101 meters high, currently being manufactured at AtyrauNefteMash.
At the polymerization unit and utilities & offsites facilities, earthworks (26%) and pile driving works (37%) are ongoing.
More than 1,700 personnel and over 300 units of equipment are mobilized at the site. The majority of construction and installation works are being carried out by Kazakhstani companies.
Commissioning of the plant and production of the first products are scheduled for 2029.
