As part of his working visit to the Atyrau Region, Kanat Sharlapayev, Chairman of the Presidium of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, visited the construction site of the Silleno polyethylene plant, which will have an annual production capacity of 1.25 million tonnes.
Mukhtar Avutbayev, General Director of Silleno LLP, briefed the head of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs on the progress of the project, the current status of construction and installation works, and the participation of Kazakhstani companies in the project. The works are being carried out in accordance with the approved schedule.
Silleno LLP and the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs are developing cooperation across a number of areas, including improvements to sector-specific legislation, reducing administrative barriers in the petrochemical industry, and promoting local content. Particular attention is being paid to supporting Kazakhstani manufacturers and expanding the participation of small and medium-sized businesses in the project.
To date, contracts worth a total of USD 1.205 billion have been signed with Kazakhstani companies. Local companies are involved at all stages of project implementation, from engineering and the manufacturing of equipment and materials to construction and installation works.
The development of domestic polyethylene production will create additional opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses through the establishment of new processing facilities, the expansion of supply chains, and increased demand for goods and services provided by local companies.
Polyethylene is one of the world’s most widely used polymers and is extensively applied in construction, healthcare, the automotive industry, agriculture, consumer goods manufacturing, and other sectors.
