{"id":2904,"date":"2026-07-10T12:04:58","date_gmt":"2026-07-10T06:04:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/silleno.kz\/?p=2904"},"modified":"2026-07-31T16:25:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-31T10:25:12","slug":"head-of-kmg-inspects-progress-of-key-petrochemical-projects-in-atyrau-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/silleno.kz\/?p=2904&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Head of KMG Inspects Progress of Key Petrochemical Projects in Atyrau Region"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During a working visit to the Atyrau Region, Chairman of the Management Board of KazMunayGas, Askhat Khassenov, visited the construction site of the Silleno polyethylene plant with an annual production capacity of 1.25 million tonnes.<\/p>\n<p>The project is being implemented in line with the instruction of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to develop the country&#8217;s petrochemical cluster and is one of the largest manufacturing projects in Kazakhstan.<\/p>\n<p>Construction is currently underway at the project&#8217;s two main process units. Overall project progress has reached 32%, with all works proceeding according to schedule.<\/p>\n<p>At the pyrolysis unit, where ethylene will be produced, piling works have been completed, foundation construction (42%) and installation of precast reinforced concrete structures (55%) for the subsequent installation of pipe racks are ongoing, while structural steel erection and process piping prefabrication have commenced.<\/p>\n<p>At the site of the second key unit \u2013 the polymerization unit \u2013 as well as at the UI&amp;O facilities, earthworks have been completed, while piling works (61%) and foundation construction are ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>The first shipment of heavy equipment, consisting of nine units, has already arrived in Kazakhstan. Transportation of the project&#8217;s largest column, manufactured locally by AtyrauNefteMash, to the construction site is currently underway. The column is nearly 102 metres high \u2013 taller than a 30-storey building \u2013 and weighs approximately 1,500 tonnes.<\/p>\n<p>The project has also achieved a major occupational safety milestone, recording 5 million lost time injury (LTI)-free man-hours since the start of large-scale construction works.<\/p>\n<p>Today, more than 2,400 personnel and 300 units of specialized equipment are mobilized at the construction site.<\/p>\n<p>A key priority of the project remains the expansion of local content. A significant share of construction and installation works is being carried out by Kazakhstani contractors.
