In the city of Atyrau, business representatives, government officials, and public figures discussed the development of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in the polyethylene processing sector.
The roundtable was organized by Silleno LLP, the operator of the polyethylene plant construction project in the Atyrau region, at the Dialogue Platform under the Caspian Munaygaz NIPI JSC.
According to the Bureau of National Statistics, from January to November 2024, Kazakhstan imported over 270,000 tons of various types of polyethylene. The new plant, with an annual capacity of 1.25 million tons of polyethylene, will fully meet domestic market demand and reduce dependence on imports.
Currently, about 300 enterprises in Kazakhstan are involved in polyethylene processing, with the majority located in Almaty, Astana, and Shymkent. In Atyrau region, there are 12 to 15 enterprises involved in polyethylene and polypropylene processing.
The discussion also included representatives from companies engaged in polymer raw material processing and finished product manufacturing, the Atameken Chamber of Entrepreneurs, the Business Women’s Council of Atyrau region, and others.
