On April 17-19, 2024, delegations of two shareholders of Sileno LLP, headed by Mikhail Karisalov, Chairman of the Board of Sibur LLC, and Jao Dong, President of China Petrochemical Corporation, were in Astana.
Within the framework of this visit, a number of important meetings were held on the implementation of the project for the production of polyethylene with a capacity of 1,250 million tons per year (hereinafter referred to as the Project), in particular:
On April 17, a working meeting was held with the participation of specialists from Sibur, Sinopec, KazMunaiGas and Sileno, where issues related to ongoing design, technical and financial work were discussed. Following the results of the meeting, a plan of further actions was determined;
April 18 – meeting of the top management of Sileno shareholders – Chairman of the Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas M. Mirzagaliev, Chairman of the Board of Sibur LLC M. Karisalov, President of China Petrochemical Corporation Jao Dong, at which information on the current status of the Project was heard, as well as open questions about the Project were voiced.
During this meeting, the Parties supported the proposal of the Sileno company to coincide the shareholders’ Final Investment Decision with the upcoming visit of the Heads of State within the framework of the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Astana, scheduled for July 3-4, 2024;
April 19 – meeting of the top management of Sileno shareholders with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov, during which Kazmunaygas, Sibur and Sinopec signed a Protocol consolidating the Parties’ intentions to make every possible effort to implement the Project.
