On July 1, 2025, thirty-five graduates from Kazakhstan commenced training under the education program developed by the Spanish engineering company Tecnicas Reunidas (TR) in partnership with JSC NC KazMunayGas. The initiative aims to develop national expertise in engineering and project management.

This cohort represents the first intake of a four-year program, during which 140 graduates from technical universities in Kazakhstan will undergo professional training in Spain. The participants were selected by TR.

Nearly half of the selected participants are graduates of education institutions in Atyrau, including the Atyrau Oil and Gas University and Higher college APEC PetroTechnic. Other participants include graduates from the Kazakh-British Technical University (Almaty), Nazarbayev University (Astana), Satbayev University (Almaty) and Yessenov University (Aktau). All participants hold degrees in engineering disciplines, including chemical engineering, civil and environmental engineering, mechanical and aerospace engineering, automation and process control, etc.

The program begins with a three-month online module, followed by a practical internship at the Tecnicas Reunidas headquarters in Madrid. Over the course of six months, participants will gain practical experience within specialised engineering departments.

The program is fully funded by Tecnicas Reunidas. Upon completion, participants will have the opportunity to join TR’s global projects, including the construction of a steam cracker unit for the future Silleno polyethylene plant in Atyrau region.

This initiative aligns with Kazakhstan’s 2025 Year of Skilled Trades, as declared by the President, and supports the development of engineering competencies while preparing a new generation of specialists to deliver large-scale industrial projects both domestically and internationally.

Tecnicas Reunidas is a Spanish engineering company with 60 years of experience in implementing over a thousand industrial projects worldwide. The company’s branches are located in 25 countries, with more than 10,000 employees.
